Nice

Some really good arps here. The rapid kick sequences you use in the intro make me feel like you're building up to something, they seem a little bit silly if they dont. You've got some really nice harmonies going on with those synths. The kick drum is a bit of a problem in this track, I can't hear it much. Maybe consider adding some hats and a snare/clap on the offbeat. The bass sounds good, and I think I can just make out some hats, but they're too low!
Good stuff, I'd like to hear some of your more recent trance if you have any.

Feel free to drop me a review if you feel like it.

7he5hocker responds:

There are hats...I am considering shortening it so that I can use a higher compression rate...right now its at 56 and it pretty much destroys any trace of treble.

Mmmmm....Acid!

Nice variety of beats here. Everything is well mixed, it just seems a bit 'light'. One of the reasons might be the song is lacking in bass. Do you have one here?
The Euro lead is cool later on.
The song really picks up later on, and you introduce some good melodies. It would have been nice to have them sooner though, its a long wait :)
Keep up the good work.

Spikrodd responds:

sorry that i forgot to pick up the bass, check up on me and my work for BASS!

Great work

Very, very great sounding piece! Epic, nicely programmed intro leading into your wonderful melodies. The synth choices are perfect, I love the lead and the choir type sound backing it up.
Good progression of the song, I liked it when you had that variation halfway through with just the guitar type lead playing alone with the arp. Nicely done. The only thing I didn't like was the plucked kind of sound playing the arp, but thats just me!
Also, it ends a bit abruptly. Still, its definitely worth a 5. Keep it up!!

7he5hocker responds:

Epic, eh? that's an extreme word which I will take pride in :)

cool song

You've got some great variety here, with plenty to keep the listener entertained! The initial bleep sequences were very much in the spirit of techno, but the song evolves a lot. I like the beats and the electronic sequences a lot, but the song jumps around so much I don't know what to think sometimes. Some fairly strange tempo changes! ;) The vocals and scrambled elements helped a lot. The guitar was a bit unusual, you wouldn't usually hear that kind of riff in a techno song, but it works.
Nice effort, but although variety is good, I think you need a more consistent beat and theme.
Good luck dude!

Great work

I love the percussion in this one! Those tuned chimes really freak me out, the cymbals sound superb, adding drive to the thick strings you have there. I love the rapid rising sequence you get the strings to perform. The oboe or french horn you use is nicely dark and atmospheric.
Top stuff! Would suit a spooky forest or castle scene in a flash really well.

Definitely an improvement

You've made it better, thats for sure. I'm really enjoying the percussion in this one. The hats are very well mixed, congratz on that! You'll have to teach me. I like that arp a lot better now, much cleaner in the mix and lets the rest of the track have some room.
This is a good foundation for a track, now sometime in the future I want to hear a trance/dance track that is totally unique. Make your leads epic, this one is good, but lacking in variety and sounds a little bit dull. Watch that clap as well, a tiny bit on the loud side. Kick roll is a little bit too intense as well, drop it back a little IMO.
Like I said, this is a good track. You've got the basics covered, now lets see something special. Also, don't be like me when I first started to make dance. Spend lots of time on a couple of tracks, dont just aim at producing quickly. Quality music takes a lot of time and patience.
Good luck dude, you're on the right track. :)

Aephion responds:

So cool, thanks a lot ^_^
I'll definetely try having another go at dance/trance, or maybe remix an existing song into this genre.
And I'll keep your advice in mind ^_^ Quality over quantity is something I believe in as well :)

Very, very good

Firstly, sorry I'm so late in getting back to you.
Let me just say that this is a very well produced track! The melody and chords are excellent, I have no chance of producing something like that with my keyboard skills, I'm very impressed.
I'm not sure why you used the same instrument for both the main parts though. It works though, they're well balanced.
The bass suits the track well, good sound choice, but it kind of dissapears after 1 riff, oh, it comes back!
That solo over the top reminds me of slower versions of heaps of Nintendo game music I used to play all the time. Good slides and harmonization
Keep it up man, this is a fine effort :)
Just a thought, if you stuck in an acoustic guitar to replace the synth, you would have a very good foundation for some lounge music.

I can honestly say that, if I ever make an epic flash movie, this is the first candidate for the end-credits.

Aephion responds:

Oh wow, thank you so much! :D
Yeah, the one thing that is most troubling to me in my progress is the lack of good samples, and the funds to buy them ^_^;
I'm hoping to get a musical education some time soon! :D

Thanks a lot for the review!
You're very kind ^_^

Remarkable

Great song as usual DJ Runaway! Such a nice bouncy bass line to get the ball rolling and the beat is really well mixed and punchy. The hats are just right in this one.
You have a lot of variety in this one, the trance lead rocks, the synth chord progression is quite video-gamey/Italian house and I love it. The arps playing the countermelodies are co-ordinated and everything is clear in the mix. Its hard to get that right, but you nailed it here.
The track builds up excellently, there is never a dull moment. I like the pitched up RunDMC samples you used, and the transitions are very classy. What a conclusion as well! Very, very good. Although I have a few doubts about that water drop fx you use sometimes including in the intro :)
Keep it up dude, this one rocks big time.

Retro sweetness

Its lucky I saw your name in the audio forum or I may have never have been reminded that there's a guy on newgrounds called Rucklo who I owe quite a few reviews I think!

This is a unique and addictive song. I love videogame sounds and there was plenty of ear candy here! You mix up some tasty rhythms on the percussion as well, I'm guessing tablas, could be Mr Burns' head though.

Imaginative intro, too bad that vocal or similarly treated vocals didn't surface later in the track! What a tease... :) The drumloop is well mixed, I think the shaker you use is spot on. Nice layered basses.
After the filter sweep on the bass and the new section it seems to run out of steam a bit, it creates anticipation, slowly, but I was expected something bigger to let me groove harder.
Other than that, I enjoy this one a lot. Have a 5...

Rucklo responds:

ThereĀ“s alot of things going on in the beat and well... about every single layer in t his song... However, i failed making it "happen" kindof :-/
But thanx alot for the review and the 5 man, love ur stuff ;)

Very classy

This sounds amazing. The strings are really beautiful and the chords are stunning. That field drum or whatever gets a bit annoying though, some high end percussion might be nice to work together with it, cymbals, bells etc..
Anyway, great song, I think it would suit a medieval game very much. I can imagine listening to it while I'm building my village...Hmm..tavern there, blacksmith here...:)

If you're in the neighbourhood, I wouldn't mind if you dropped a review on me someday!
