great effort

Nice intro. I love the bassline when the song gets moving. A very good sense of building.
I like the resonant lead you bring in, the groove feels just right. Nice break into the next lead. Sounds like one of my favourite patches from Vanguard.
Good progression doubling up the melody in the next part. nice snare roll.
Damn, I wanted more! I can imagine some soaring pads coming down onto the track or something.
Anyway, excellent work!

Heh, thx :)

Well, i mostly did this, cause it was requested. Since ppl watched the basshunter's tutorial on YouTube, ppl started to ask me that, so i guessed it was time to do it now ;)

i like it a lot

I really enjoyed this one.
That is a quality pad progression and the beat goes with it perfectly. Cool hihats. As does the subby sounding bass.
You really played that arp live? with the tempo turned down a bit right? :P
Nice simple track, but the way you built it up deserves praise. Well done. Some really enchanting harmonies and melodies. Well mixed.

"Loosen up my buttons babe..but you keep frontin' me..say'n watcha gonna do to me..but I aint seenn.....

sorry, I had to do that.

Quarl responds:

lol, indeed. Thanks for the reviews man. Actully, I learned how to play those melodies on the key board in real time using garage band. I didn't slow down the tempo. It just took a bunch of tries and failed attempts :D

needs another look

You've got some nice sounds in there, but some of the chords seem to be a little bit..wrong! Take another look, when the piano just plays by itself, or with the 2 note chord, it sounds great. The main chords sound a bit strange.
And the beat is a little bit standard, surprise us all next time. Just drag any old sample and experiment. It easy in these modern times.
Not your best man, I have to say I've enjoyed your others more.

G9 responds:

Yeah, I can see where that might be the case... I might make an actual acoustic remake of the song later, but I can't even play that piece on an actual piano as of yet. I'll be sure to keep your tips in mind... there were just some rhythms in my original composition that were impossible with just Grand 2 that will definitely be possible with live recording of an acoustic piano.

Thanks for the review!

stylin'

Get yo crunk on boi.
Catchy loop, sounds like Snoop Dogg or someone. :)

G9 responds:

Haha, thanks man... a bit repetitive, I know, and no where near the better of the hip hop tracks here. But I'm just trying to expose myself to various genres, so...

...thanks for the line!

we be jammin

Its been a while between drinks but you've powered back with a smoking, professional track!
In the intro, that folding vaporous sound down low and a nice trippy chord progression.
Cool breaks to follow, diggin the powerful bass. The fx are classy and hit the spot just right.
Nice interlude with the wavy fx and now my favourite part of the track. Very cool sounding lead sounds and analogue sounding pads. Just flows really well and the inital synth motif goes great alongside it.
Very nice variety in the next section, I like the analogue lead playing the low part. Nice delay effect on the snare at the end.
Well, my hat goes off to you man, this is a quality track!

KaiSun responds:

It has been a while, you inspired me to get back in the game. Ive been trying to tone things down, be a bit more subtle with this one. Glad you like it, talk to u soon

I feel like chicken tonight

Great little track. Classy minimal feel with some excellent percussive sounds and really pleasing interplay of the parts.
Gotta love that cello, wow there's a little spider climbing up my wall, and now I hear some shades of Aphex when the percussion and bass parts vacate the place. Very nice plucking down low and the string bending expression on the guitar couldnt be finer.
Nice ephemeral sounding delays on the ...vocals? Me likes.
Cruisey man, switcheroo to reggae. I love the snare work. you're the man being able to acutally play all those instruments.
Really nice rhodes/wurlitzer thingie. And good building of tension at the end here.
From the name,I thought the whole track would evolve from its stripped back start and develop into a ragga breaks fest, but I'm really happy with what I heard ;)

P.S Do more tracks with Splagawaga! You guys are both outstanding.

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

yeh, wags' new stuff is outstanding. i'm well happy with that dub drop init>>>>
nice 1

needs some more life

Raw powerful lead, works with the drums you bring in really well. Hey, vocal sample!
The lead gets a little bit repetitive. I like it when you make tracks full of motion and change man. This one is solid, but not one of your best I think. The whole track repeats itself a bit too much. The vocal sample isn't so cool when its repeated so much!

TheComet responds:

this wasn't really anything too special when I made it, I was using it more or less to unwind from my midterm testing

btw, check out "Oh No" if you havn't yet :D
thx for the review

nice

nice work! My favourite part is when the cruisey chord pad comes in near the end. I thought the parts before that lacked your usual punch though, I mean, the 2 note bass pattern is a little bit uninteresting, but you had that wonderful acid sequence that kept things interesting. Nice jungle style drums, mixed just right to my ears.
Gets a little hectic later, but it holds together.
That lead adds something nice, but maybe some delay or something. Would sound awesome when it slides up and its echoing all over the place ;)
Good to hear from you again, never stop!

TheComet responds:

testing week did it's thing to me, 1 week beforehand of pure studying, no time for anything during testing week, and completely brain dead for the next week afterwards XD

I've got a bunch of songs on the way though, "Love and War", "Let Loose", and "Crackhead" (speedcore omfg)

cool

A very nice sounding trance track. I have to say that maybe you could have pulled out a couple more tricks because the song, although very well made, is missing a bit of extra something to make me say 'Wow'. I like the break and the new chord progression. Nice Euro flavour, the percussion doesn't seem to be as upbeat as it was before, I think the offbeat hat is missing?
Very nice melodies. Yeah, a hat would help man, and I apologise if you have one but I cant hear it.
Solid effort, but bust out some more tricks and surprise us more next time!

dj-z3ta responds:

You're exactly right man! I had forgotten the hat. I'll try to add a couple more layers to get a little more noise in there---might increase the wow effect. Thanks for the review, and I found your criticism greatly valuable.
