fun but flawed
Fun for a little while, but the game seems to be not very well balanced. I mean, the ideal strategy would seem to be to make the virus as transmissable and well protected as possible while minimizing its lethality.
For several times I tried this, going forward one day at a time until I had enough points to increase its transmissability etc...and failing time and time after one or another countries would not become infected.
The last time I played I skipped ahead 25 days or so, bought as many transmissability upgrades as possible, went back to the map, skipped ahead another 25 days or so and then bought the rest, and won. So, I wasn't even getting the upgrades as soon as I could but I was still winning.
The conclusion is that whether a country becomes infected or not is just chance, and my haphazard, careless approach led to a win. That doesnt make for a good game in my opinion.
Cool music, I think I recognise the space bugs preset from a Roland sound bank. The track would sometimes play back on top of itself out of time when it looped. Also, points are not updated when you're on the upgrades screen. I dont know why you have to be looking at a picture of the world in order for the points to be brought up to date.
Other than that, the graphics and concepts are very good. And the music is very fitting if it looped properly. I think it might happen when you advance the time quickly during the game?
at last, a Newgrounds answer to the Tamagotchi! He'll be spinning in his grave. Excellent smooth graphics and good interesting gameplay with a nice amount of variety.

The graphics in the game were simple but effective and there was a nice variety of units.
The game was very repetitive though, and the units under our command are incredibly stupid, especially the archers. God knows what they are trying to fire at sometimes.
The number one problem I have with the game is the snails pace of the gameplay. It wants to be 2 or 3 times faster. It's just too damn annoying to wait as our army crawls back to the base with the flag.
The music was also exasperating. I mean, couldnt a more exciting theme be activated once battle commences, or when our units reach a certain point from the enemy base? Might make things more interesting.
It was fun, but in the end, I wouldn't go back to play a second time.
hey man, this was fun, good work on having such a large variety of characters. I would have liked some awesome weapons to drag in too though! Nice work, kept me entertained for quite a while!
P.S Thanks for using my track, but next time you need music, send me a message and I can make a loop for you whatever style or length you want. It'll only be about 30 seconds max so it won't be too big, then you can keep the audio at a higher quality.

Without doubt the best game I have ever played on any site like this. The graphics were amazing, the sound made me drool. Those lo-fi effects were outstanding, and the periodic low atmospheric drone really made the ambience complete. The icing on the cake would be 'helper' powerups where you get a little automatic defender to fight with you, ala Gradius. Maybe there is later on, I didn't get very far!
Also, does anyone know why that little bastard charges coins for powerups? You're trying to save humanity and he's profiteering :P
Actually, the Bros are just trying to get home from work.. They deal with this every day. And the little capitalist, well, a micro orange pixel merchant has a right to make some cash on the side, no? (He works on the space station too)
