excellent

Cool, nothing beats a bit of grimy d 'n' b.
The reversed sounding bass is damn cool. I love the cheeky synth riff after the first section. Actually there are a multitude of cool synth riffs in this section. I was missing a bit of bass action in the second half but the beat was going strong and there was enough synth interplay to keep things interesting.
Oh, ok, you brought it back. Nice! Some nice acid sounds througout, I'm digging the stabby bass in this last section. Cool square pattern, that ones really gold. Maybe its 2 synths acutally, sounding really cool.

Well, just thought I'd drop in my 2 cents. Awesome job.

Thanks! I spend long hard hours trying to figure out what melodies would play with eachother. It was very hard since I was basing it off the first synth part which was just another techno song's synths that I split and arranged. The notes for it were more like chords I had to pitch bend. I know the bass was lacking some but I didn't want it to interfere with the hard hitting drum beats I spent such a long time on :) Thanks for the review! I like your work as well. I might have to ask you for some of your musical secrets in exchange for some of mine one day. Thanks again!

great stuff

Really great, with strong catchy driving riffs and powerful beats. The energy is kept high enough to keep me entertained through several listens and the development is excellent. Nice use of fx and everything makes sense in the evolution of the song. That's really hard to do in trance/techno and you've pulled it off here. Kudos!
It might be me but the mastering seems a little bit severe. Sometimes the bass and offbeat hat seem to be squashed a little. Doesn't take away much.

You obviously know what you're doing here. Very well done!

Redse7en responds:

Heh I spent hours on the synths and compiled the fx with the same amount of time so needless to say this piece took forever to acomplish. Less time however than Sound Crystals. I know that the mastering needs work some but I needed to produce something to keep my active fans happy :) Had to sacrafice something to gain a little something hehe. Glad you enjoyed the song and listened to it more than once! Hope to see you around again soon!

cool work

Very nice, the amount of effort in this track is obvious, because it acutally sounds like a complete, developing piece of music rather than loops which is most common in music like this. The sounds morph and develop really skilfully, and there are some great, fast paced little riffs in there.
The chorus got me smiling. It has a quirky, fun vibe. i like listening to things like this.
Very interesting drums as well, I'm digging the snare and tom action. Really gets this little gem skippin' along.
Keep it up!

Thanks for the review! You're right, I did put quite a bit of effort into this one, and it went nearly a week without a single review... I was starting to get worried. Glad you liked it, though, and thanks again for the review(s)!

funky fresh

The blues of the future? Some interesting sounds in here, and very well done if they were all done using Buzz, I never knew it could make sounds like that!
Some very nice rolls and drum work, would love to hear it a little bit louder. Sweet panning.
My favourite sound would have to be the higher grainy reverbed part that comes in harmonizing with that cool phat Moogy bass.
And some excellent portamento action on that initial lead/bass kind of sound. Bluesy but modern would sum this track up best I think.
keep pushing.

attemptedperfection responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, Buzz is generally all I use for electronica... with the exception of live-recording, which I usually do with Magix. So actually, technically, this isn't completely Buzz, since I did previously record the live-drum samples on Magix. I actually used to do the glitchwork on Magix as well, but I recently found out how to do it on Buzz... which resulted in this track. I'll have to try the distortion/degrading on the snares... I degraded the bass on this one, and was considering trying it with some of the drums, but by then it was already almost done. And by "done" I mean "ready for NewGrounds" since I still may do a significant amount of additional work on this one; right now it's pretty much just a glorified loop. Anyway, glad you liked it, and thanks again for the review!

awesome track

Killer track. I've never heard the original so this ones all new for me. Gotta love the tone of those guitars. The desending part with the guitar playing the sustained notes that last almost 1 bar is damn cool.
Gets pretty damn heavy at the end. Nice layering. The incessant low part sounds cool. Back to my favourite part afterwards, yay!

DarKsidE555 responds:

Thanks for the review man! Yeah, the track itself is pretty kick ass and very easy to play also. I covered it with a band I was in so I thought, why not recording it?

It was recorded with some pretty old equipment so the sound isn't the best. Also the samples from beatcraft are more or less...fucked up. XD

Anyways, I'm glad you liked it! \m/

sweet

Bordering on the insane, this one actually holds together really well!
I'm digging the metal goodness, the snare punches through nice and powerfully. Dont often hear scratching with shredding, it has a lot of bite though so it fits. Nice use of some mario sounds. I can imagine it being glitched to the extreme, that would make me happy.

The last section made me laugh, I'm guessing that was XBrav! Kind of abrupt ending though, it felt like the big climax was here.

This could be the soundtrack to the last part of 'Karate Kid' where Daniel has just knocked out the leader of the rival Kobra Kai dojo. Mr Myagi can sing the 'We Are The Best' line ;)

Oh, and congratz on no 1! Thats going to give you some great exposure.

DarKsidE555 responds:

Nice review man! :)

Yeah, it suprised me a lot that this made #1. But this is NG...anything can happen. XD

I don't often hear scratching with shredding either but Rucklo and I liked it very much. We are thinking of making a track just like that in the future but for real this time. :)

Yeah, XBrav made the techno like ending, I forced him to do it. lol. >: (

Anyways, thanks for the very cool review mate! \m/

tasty

wow, masterful! It reeks of quality from start to finish. It felt like the end was set to explode. I kept expecting something similar to the end of Squarepushers 'do you know Squarepusher' to attack, too bad about the corrupt file. Its a fantastic work even in its unfinished state though, and if you didn't say anything no-one would be the wiser.
Dig the co-ordination between the sub bass and the bip-bopping squares.
Cool, reversed sounding sharp pads in the ending and the desceding pad makes everything make sense and the beat is faultless.
Well, no-ones gonna top this one in a hurry! ;)

Kingbastard responds:

ta man, always appreciate your reviews:)

cool

Rock on! For the first part I was waving my cigarette lighter in the air..then for the next part I was using it to set fire to my curtains. Nice distortion! The parts dont exactly harmonize or gel, but I admire the raw power of it.

METALSEATER responds:

haha thanks, supposed to be a joke though heehee =)

soothing

Sounds really good. Nice and dreamy. The low grainy, thick pad provides a good foundation for the track. Your rhythm is well mixed and I enjoy the fast hi hat pattern. My favourite part of the track would have to be the high leads you being in towards the end of the track. It reminds me very much of Goldfrapp...

Anyway, well done, keep it up!

baller9hundred responds:

thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

great work

Its not repetitive at all. This is one awesome track, I love the place and the bubbling acidic riffs. The kind of stuff you could listen to for ages. The part with the flanged bass is really cool and the development and transitions are all first rate.
Well done!
