Sounds like some mighty fine trance. I really like the 303, and the build up is really good into the main melody. It sounds like a real anthem, and you build it up even more the second time around! Great stuff! The vocoder is good, sometimes the Fruityloops ones bug me. It does sound a little bit corny into the buildup to your main part, but hey, it adds a nice extra something to yor track.
Nice splash to end the melodic part. I almost thought the track was gearing up for a new section, but nope, thats the end :)

Rave4Yourself responds:

wtf i luv u.

I've been waiting for a review like this. I thought it was "too epic" though. Its fine? Thanks, that only means one thing...

Gotta make more.

XD check out my other stuff if you want. "Forever" actually has a good melody, just that it comes in at around 1:00, no one noticed though, :(

But yeah, awesome. I'll go make more. Thanks alot for the review! I thought the same about the track when it was "gearing up", but then i accidentally made it end, :P

Be back for more.

Nice one!

This is a nice track to chill too. Everything is mixed really well and is clear and sharp. Nice strings at the start set the mood. I can see why you describe it as happy because the synth playing the melody is so bubbly and bright. Nice melody there.
Very good change halfway through, bringing in the extra pad. This is wicked! The only thing that spoils it a little is those snare rolls which get a bit annoying after a couple of listens!
Other than that though, top stuff! I look forward to more! Perhaps the next one will be as dark as hell?

bjoaierjbioaerjgoerj responds:

wow, what a great review. And yah i was thinking of submitting a evil song soon. Thanx man.

Ch-ch-check it out

Hey Kaisun, you're back with a vengeance! Unusual intro soloing the bass, you introduce a VERY nice chunky drumloop that is listenable for ages. I think the hats are just right. Looks like you've learned a lot from Ali B, does he tutor you in person these days?
Its cool when you drop the beat and give us some trademark automation to bring in the juicy bassline. Beastie Boys, yeah! Man, they're a bit far back in the mix, but the bassline is so cool, I forgive you.
The song goes from strength to strength, with the bassline morphing and twisting away down there, and some excellent variations in the percussion making the whole mix a really good listening experience. Top stuff mate! Looks like you've worked really hard on this one.

Make more!

P.S You missed my awesome flash. It got blammed on a final score of 0.53/5, can you believe that?

KaiSun responds:

Haha 0.53/5 thats so low it makes me really want to see it. Yeah the beginning is kinda unusual, i chopped out the first section and couldn't be bothered fixing it so just left it, then added the boys in when it was finished. Glad u like it mate, more coming

Keeping it funky

Cool intro, a bit left-field but works really well!
Hmm..sounds like a funky, chilled house number now. Wicked sax, co-operates really well with the sultry rhodes. Sometimes I feel like the sax should just play a really cool short riff that echoes out every quarter note so the kick drum and itself pulse together. Man, I'm an arrogant reviewer ;)
The bassline works well, interesting that you didn't select an acoustic one. This one is more interesting I think, it seems a little bit high though.
Previous reviewers have mentioned the kick drums level a lot, personally, I think its spot on. Nice strings and pads throughout, you know, I'm really enjoying this track! Just waiting for a sax solo...the whole thing is kind of like an extended solo I guess! One thing about the pads, the lower one tends to dwarf the bass a little bit.
Very nice wind-down of the tune, expertly done! At that point it feels like I'm listening to Royksopp (spelling?) .

Keep it up!

P.S Thanks for reviewing my budget flash. It was kind of meant to be lame in a funny way, but I don't think anyone appreciated where I was coming from :) Back to the drawing board...

Hahahah! Man I wish I knew how to do that :) that'll all be saved for at least a couple of months from now, if I can be arsed in the meantime to discover all the possibilities of Cubase...

I still lack decent bass samples, if you know a way to get my hands on them, please let me know...

Thanks for your comments, always a good input you are!

And I was quite entertained by that flash of yours, even though I knew it would get blammed - I've had my days of watching the Flash Portal's new entries and there's a pattern in which flashes barely make the cut... just investigate a bit and you'll know what to do, I'm sure, keep trying :)

Top stuff

This is a quality track. My first thought was that the piano meshed exceedingly well with the strings, and that kind of co-ordination is always admirable.
The xylophone/bells give the track a very pleasing depth. You bring in the drumloop to very good effect. The roll at the end of each bar matches the driving momentum of the strings.
Very, very good stuff. The only thing I can think of to kick it up to the next level would be some more consideration of dynamics. Easing down parts gradually, some flourishes..things like that. Well, flourishes is a nice word, but maybe wouldn't suit here ;) Anyway, you know what I mean.
Overall, excellent. Keep it up!

nightvision responds:

I really like the effect that the bells gave as well, thank you for hearing that. I agree, the dynamics could have been more diverse, and thanks for the review

Mmm...breaks

Dude, what do you need my help for? This is filthy! You've got an excellent breaks loop here. Just a note, it sounds wicked, but for the entire song, the flanging could get a little tiresome. For the majority of the song, I could see a simplified version of the middle/last part working very well as your basic groove.

Anyway, I'll pm you a couple of sites where you can get some loops and stuff for breaks/drum and bass.

You're doing great mate.

cornandbeans responds:

Hmm... Well, If you saw the song in its bare form, it had a basic 16th hi-hat overlay to it and the kick-kick snare kick-kick snare-snare-snare... Not to original, and you wouldn't believe how many effects I dropped on it. I think I have a chorus, squeeze, multiband compresser, distortion, and some reverb. XD I kinda want to move into some more varied rhythms, maybe have a more technic feel to it rather than just flow all the way through. I can't really get the weird sounds that I want, too. :S Oh well. I'm glad you liked it, though. I'm happier with it than I sound. :P Thanks for the feedback!

Sweet

This is good, you bring things in and take them away at all the right times. The only problem I can see is that the bass isn't really low, its kind of more a lead sound. I think a deeper base would really help the track sound more full.
But the synths here as they are sound great, its a very good progression.
Good percussion, I really like the kick but I would have liked a brighter hat.
Keep it up dude!

P.S I realise I forgot to vote for Fleep but thats fixed now ;)

Syntrus responds:

right on man

Good one

Nice one. The beat is catchy and well mixed. There's a nice shaker type of sound I here from time to time, I'm not sure why it continues on at the end though.
The bass is simple, but it does the job.
Nice piano riff and some interesting fx in the mix.
I'll be interested to see how you develop at hiphop.

nickolas-lumpkin responds:

Think man..But im new at this beat making thing and im working hard on it..but i still dont know every thing i need to know about but im getting there...but thanks for tha good feed back..p.s check out my first one if you liked this one..it call tha new south

Nice one

Nice ambience here. I like the atmosphere a lot, but it seems a bit thick at times, the parts kind of stepping on eachothers toes. When the melody oozes out of it, it sounds really great and the glittery pad at that time goes together with it nicely.
Did you do this with garageband? I didn't know it could do electronic stuff as well.

Sun-and-Moon responds:

Yes, I do everything in Garage Band, and it has a lot of different sounds that you can come up with!

The parts "stepping on each others toes" you described are due to me not knowing how to time things properly xD

Thanks for the review! It means a lot to me :P

Nice work here

Man, this is seriously cool. It sounds a bit like Diddy Kong Racing. Really upbeat and energetic. Excellent strings and the flute solo really breaks up the track nicely.
I like the snare fills at the end of every 4 bars and the handclap keeps a good rhythm with the kick drum.
Nice percussion in the breakdown.
I'm guessing you come from Scotland?

P.S If you're in the neighbourhood, I wouldnt mind getting your opinion of my latest techno track "We Love Candy" :)

Nirodha responds:

Yes, i was going toto do scotland brave, but it will sound VERY corny
