cool

Rock on! For the first part I was waving my cigarette lighter in the air..then for the next part I was using it to set fire to my curtains. Nice distortion! The parts dont exactly harmonize or gel, but I admire the raw power of it.

METALSEATER responds:

haha thanks, supposed to be a joke though heehee =)

soothing

Sounds really good. Nice and dreamy. The low grainy, thick pad provides a good foundation for the track. Your rhythm is well mixed and I enjoy the fast hi hat pattern. My favourite part of the track would have to be the high leads you being in towards the end of the track. It reminds me very much of Goldfrapp...

Anyway, well done, keep it up!

baller9hundred responds:

thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

great work

Its not repetitive at all. This is one awesome track, I love the place and the bubbling acidic riffs. The kind of stuff you could listen to for ages. The part with the flanged bass is really cool and the development and transitions are all first rate.
Well done!

g-r4ve responds:

thx padman!

nice one

Action packed track! Really good attention to detail with the number of cool transitions and the variety of sounds and the way you use them to glue the whole thing together.
I was really grooving to this one. The ending was a bit sudden, thats my only complaint. Other than that, a very strong track. Congratz!

very stylish

Nice meditative aura. A guy could listen to this stuff all day. Not a lot of parts, but each carries a lot of power. I can just imagine some beautiful multilayered strings descending over everything at the end just taking us up to a higher place! I really dig the guitar timbre, is it a steel string? it has a bit of bite to it.

Admirable simplicity, maybe save the strings for another day!

WinTang responds:

Thank you!! This seems to be rather successful :)
I'll see if I expand it into something more listenworthy, on the other hand I've been picking up on my guitarplaying a lot lately, and lots more ideas arose. I'll be toying with different arrangements and post them here for everyone to enjoy :)

The guitar is a classical, but compressed and stuff. Bite comes mainly from purposely overplucking though.

really good

You've got some extremely cool sounds here man! I'm digging the sliding lead, and the chirpy blips are cool. I like the watery fx a lot.
Nice jump up in energy when the main sequence starts! Very good stuff. Some of those melodies are fantastic and everything hangs together well. Watch the levels though, it gets a little bit distorted, perhaps the bass is a bit loud.
Really nice flute sound the second time and that cool, slidy lead across a minimal beat. Great melodies here.
Keep it up mate, this one shows real skill.
Just watch those volume levels!

P.S sorry to take so long to get back to you. I havent checked my page in a while.

oh yeah

Tasty. I'm digging it. I agree with the Pendulum reference. The bass does have that cool, insistent quality that can be found in their tracks. Rocking basslines, they go together really well, I know I kind of say that a lot, I just mean they're cohesive and 'gel' properly. The transitions are especially cool. You love that flanged transition, it works a treat in your trance productions as here as well.
Nice development. Bringing the strings and bringing back the halftime hiphop feel. Aww man, it ended. I was hoping for one big final bash. I like the metalizer flanger effect at the end. My tracks always end up clipping if I try applying things like that across the entire track, it works well here!
My only complaint with this excellent track is the eighth note acid blip that appears a little bit into the main run. It works, but a little finesse would be cool, I'm thinking even if you ramped them up into 16th notes on the last bar of every 4 it could make a world of difference. Just something to spice it up a little.
The other thing would be that hard techno kick that comes in for a bit of a visit. Seems a little bit out of place. Maybe it could work in an interlude at the end of a buildup or something, but applied wholesale with many other things it doesn't exactly mesh in my opinion.
An excellent track altogether! Fully deserving of a 5 and a place on the 'ol hard-drive.

delish

nice use of the percussion, the low thuds and metallic hits to create a creepy Diablo style ambience. Nice snare pattern goes perfectly with the eerie string sequence. Good attack on the strings to give them a horror movie flavour.
You're really good at these cinematic/computer game tracks man, dont stop now!
Only criticism, seems a little bit short. I would have loved a final explosion. Still, I got some good nightmare/graveyard vibes ;)

TheAmateurAnimator responds:

Ooh, thanks. I've never played Diablo, I was actually thinking of Metal Gear Solid for the percussive drumloop, and the low thud was inspired by Halo(you can see in my remake of a Halo song, "Lament for Pvt. Jenkins"). As for the snare pattern fitting with the pizzicato strings, that was because I just put in the same rhythm, with some variation. Along with the attack on the strings, I like attacking staccato notes very much.

You're right that it's too short. I should have made the end false, and then burst something really cool after a half-second of silence.

Thanks a lot for the review!

awesome

Nice one man, I'm digging the low down drums backed up by the horns. Gives a really strong, military, battle type feel.
The choir assists well in adding a dramatic flavour to the whole scene, well done in that interlude dropping the beat. It made it even more intense when you brought in the new section with the low strings. Very nice!
I see its been used in a flash already, I'll drop a vote on the flash.
Keep it up dude, this is sounding great. You've got the structure and build up just right!

TheAmateurAnimator responds:

Awesome, thanks. I love reviews this comprehensive, they let me know exactly what I did right and what I should keep doing. I was surprised that this has already been used in a Flash movie.

domination

Hardcore man, this one would probably make the crowd explode if you played it live. Explosive riffs man. Pure power.
There was a couple of times that I thought the cymbal hits didn't exactly mesh with the drums. The cool part for me was when you had the crash playing on the 3rd and 4th beats of the bar and then at the end of the sequence you had it playing on every beat on some ascending guitar chords.
Righteous, man..never stop rocking.

Would have loved a hardcore solo as well. Maybe next time!

DarKsidE555 responds:

I wish I could but I think my current band won't. As funny it is, I'm doing better with my own stuff than with the stuff I got going with my band. lolz.

Yeah, I think you are right about the cymbals. I noticed that too late. The song was already on NG. : /

haha, nice one man. Didn't expect only a few to notice that with the crash. It's nothing special really but I thought it was kinda cool and it's nice that you liked it as well. :)

I won't stop rocking man...NEVER! I'm trying to get some better solos done with my newer stuff. Anyways thanks for checking it out dude! \m/
