groovy

Really nice sounding track. I love the rich, spacious pads and how they flow with the guitar melody. There's some really nice sliding between pitches on one of those synths that sound damn cool. Love that funky square synth as well, if you played that, my hat goes off to you!
Beautiful flute. Fits with with the chord changes of the pads beautifully.
Gotta compliment your mix, everything is sitting so nicely. Especially the bass. I'm envious!

Well, its a cover, but you've well and truly made it your own with some innovative synth choices and implementation. Kudos!

basstacular

I'm feeling this one man. Nice little fx bridges in the intro reverbing their way into the groove. Phat electro bass, awesome bass line. Plenty of variety.
The rhythm is tight and breaky. Lots of little ornamentations which is great. Same with the bass, several times throughout the track there's some sweet production with little bass turnarounds.
When you gave us the middle section with the repeated bass quarter notes, I thought you might really serve it up clubstyle and break out a phat snare right over the top of them. But very nice lead up into the second half. More electro goodness into the more 'straight ahead' bass. But soon back to business, nice incidental synth, who doesnt love that sound?
It felt maybe another percussion part would be cool to round off the track, I can imagine some mad 16th note filter pattern really bringing in home.
Grade A man, no doubt about it.

on the right track

good attempt. you've got some good ideas and the melody is good. The gated synth part matches it well. The thing you need to work on is the drums. Techno needs a really consistent beat, you give it to us sometimes, but only sometimes! The standard 4 kick per bar techno pattern is essential to get people nodding their head along to your track. And get a cool clap or snare on the offbeat and then some hats.
And then another important thing is the bassline. The low frequencies are really important in techno. You need a bass in your techno man!
Then the track will rock a bit more.
Keep going!
And I'm not too sure what the noise in the background is that comes in during the second half, its a bit distracting!

ink-dripped-heart responds:

oh yeah huh. thats a good idea. thanks man that helps a lot. and the noise in the backround that comes around in the middle of the song was suppose to be waves but it came out wierd. thank you for your help.

chilled

Nice, laid back chilled groove. The chord stab at the start of every bar gives it great flow. Phat, solid bass. I'm listening on headphones and it comes through great.
has a lot of capacity to expand, keep going with it! I can see some strings or a lush pad really bringing it to another dimension.
There seems to be a bit of clipping when you bring in the extra percussive part towards the end, careful!

DrRalf responds:

Hey man, thanks!
Hehe, that clipping is actully an FX if it is what I think you mean. Strings/pad would be a great idea.

tasty

Cool crunchy drumloop, really sounding great.
Nicely middle eastern style melodies, sounds pretty majestic and the low pad helps a lot.
Great glitchiness following, those rolls are so powerful, it sounds excellent.
Good variety, this spacious sounding part is a good progression.
Back to the main 'chorus', nice, and that higher synth drone fits like a glove.
Really solid track man, an enjoyable listen without a doubt.
Keep up the great work!

attemptedperfection responds:

Glad you liked it;
Thanks for the review!

represent the square

My kind of stuff.
The cacophony before the squares bust out was great, I could hear some grainy Autechre like instruments in the background.

Now, this is action! love the drums and the lo-fi melodies. Excellent harmonization with the wavery synth. The square patterns are priceless. Cool bubbly analogue synths.
Nice interlude with the raw square.
And the epicness continues.

A real gem. Well, the intro makes sense when you listen to the track for the first time, but when it loops like on NG its a bit of a non sequitur that they're the same track, I think that would explain some other reviewers opinions of the intro.

Never stop glitching.

great fresh start!

cool demo man, I can easily imagine this branching out into a complete track.
Interesting intro, maybe that theme will come back later in the full version?
Very, very nice bassy lead you've got in there. Sounds perfect. That will carry through the track nicely!
Good beats, I'm thinking maybe the kick could be made a bit louder? You need peoples heads to explode!
Well, not much more to say, other than "Welcome back man!". Now make this into the best track you've ever made. And then let me know! ;)

i feel the funk

Nice track, certainly a very beautiful rhodes (wurlitzer?) nicely dosed with the phaser.
Tight bassline and the wah guitars are excellent.

I like it very much when you step the drums up with that ride cymbal and the brass starts to get funky. This part sure hits the spot. More excellent chords with the electric piano.
very good track development, its full of variety and a true composition.

Well, very cool...I just missed some more fills, crashes and maybe a saxophone solo :)

sorohanro responds:

wow, thanx. very nice review...
i tryed to obtain a nice wurlitzer from putting a slight distortion on normal rhodes... better for dynamics
and about fills and stuff, well i'm lazy :D and i lately work with drumm loops, sounds more naturall... so, there
thanx again for review

cool mo D

Great track, you've got my mind dancing. I love the low acid in the intro and the distant percussive rolls.
Kind of glitchy South American flavour to this one, with those synth riffs and the percussion in the 2nd part adds to that feel, intentional I wonder?
Hehe, great outro. Cool pitch shifting, grainy goodness. I can see this one working its way up to a 1st class glitch fest. By all means, dont 'tease me' with this, well...teaser.
More! More! More!

WinTang responds:

More to come!
Thank you very much!
Didn't quite go for South American but I can definitely see it, the drums are kinda Samba di Janeiro :D

me loves acid

This track really gets moving when you bring in the acid and the beat, I'm really really digging it. The lead up was cool, especially the piano is kind of minimal, relentless and spooky, the sustained low notes kind of dominated the track.
Awesome vocal break! Thats some really inventive structuring. Back to the creepy NES organ. Neat, I wish you'd bring back the glitch beat, I can see myself rocking out to that.
Nice outro.
Very good and inventive. i can only recommend giving us heavier doses of cut-up beats. That acid and drum part was out of sight!
