Sweet

I see grandmas unwrapping presents for little grandchildren on a frosty christmas morning.

Then the drums come in..Ok, now the grandpa is pushing along the kid on his new red bicycle! YAY!!

Nice track, you've got some interesting chord progressions in there and the mix is really good and balanced. That's commendable because you do have lots of nice little countermelodies and extra layers in there.

A bit on the 'Hallmark' side, but nice one!

Khuskan responds:

I'm not going to take credit for the actual chord progressions, this is a cover of a track from Les Miserables. As for the countermelodies though... ;-)

Gah, I need to find a new vocalist.

nice

Lets have a listen. You've got some cool synth riffs in there. i like the middle eastern one that you filter in. Nice 303 doubled up down there.
Good relentless drive. Would have loved it a bit faster though!
Keep em coming.

Green-Phoenix responds:

Hey man sweet thanks for the review. yeah it could be faster ay

sounding great

Woah, dude, Euro is here to stay! Really upbeat and energetic. You've mixed that bass in there really really well. And its playing quite an original pattern, a pleasant change from the usual I'm used to hearing.
Very crisp, solid beats. You've programmed those transitions in with a lot of skill. Good crashes and rolls, yes..nice!
Ok, into the vocals, well mixed and go in perfectly with your rhythm and synths.
Nice, surprising us with a bit of 3 step goodness. You really know your stuff man, I'll give you that much.
Once again, digging those awesome transitions. I'll have to copy some of your moves! :)

Keep it up man! Great effort here. really polished and sounding full.

Only thing I wouldn't mind seeing would be maybe cutting up the vocals a bit and messing around with them a bit more? Like reversing a vocal phrase and using that as a roll or something, thats always the icing on the cake for me.

This is going to go gold I reckon. (at least!)

i2abbitz responds:

yea, tried to make it super energetic.
and i love that 3 stepped goodness! lol
thanks for all of your comments and i hope at least one of my tracks go gold.
500 dls is gold right? cuz my pictures of you remix is only a hundred away!!!!

Awesome

Damn! Exactly what I'm in the mood for. Loving the awesome cut up breaks and the bass is water tight. Great intergalactic pads zooming into the next universe and then over the other side of our parallel moon.
Love the tangled, confused guitar. Excellent vocals. Thats the trademark Ped grandeur we all know and love. Very nice minimal percussion.
Very unique with that orchestral sounding drum with your cool chopped up breaks. That synth suits perfectly.
Digging the bassline that follows, but with a rap like that, I feel like I really wanna know what the dude is saying. Still, I can dig it.
Nice evolution, I give this 2 thumbs up. Part 1 got 3 thumbs though, I think you really excelled yourself there mate.
Top effort here, I'll be waiting for your next tasty morsel. And get that slacker Splagawaga to upload some more goodness soon k?

Hey., you played this down at your local?? Nice man, how'd it go down? Were you choppin stuff up on your laptop or what?

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

thanks for the review oz,
the vox over the end are as follows-
'jesus christ i'm flying, no i ain't lyin, pupils dilated like gates to hades, gief my shadeys, and pass my hat and my tie, i'm ready to hit the floor so come and laugh at the fool who's sketching out like a tool. and join me if u please and don't u call the police cos no1 needs that when they're spooning out, so grab my hat and my tie...'
wagas started a full time job now with an hours travel at each end so he hasn't had time to hob-nob around here, has been making a bunch of music tho, i'll poke him with a stick for ya.
me and wags were on fairly early, there weren't that many people there but we both had a few random people dancing. no tweaks either, was too many people to set things up for livenessness, was a matter of giving a C.D to the dude.
respec,
;ped

great one

Dude, I'm digging this! Cool Arabian string into the phat bass line. Hmm..the bass seems to be a bit low (volume wise!) in the mix. I want my ears to bleed, aww....Love the pulse of the drum loop with the crashes and that cool hit/stab thing you have going on. Man, is that a synth effect or something, at the start of every 2 bars in your main part. Me likes!
Nice overall development, dropping the bass and bringing in the arp sequence before the final hit out.
Tasty....just crank the bass a bit more! I want my room shaking.

excellent work

Man, thats cool! The drums are really excellent, heaps of energy and variety. The bassy kind of riff you've got is cool, wouldn't mind something a bit lower though.
Nice chord progression with the arp, and good production when you drop everything out for a second and then bring the beat and bass back again. Great extra percussive elements and those rolls at the end are really pleasing.
Very good work, you've impressed me. Only complaint, I felt that some kind of lower, more driving bassline would really help this track.
At the start, that extra synced sounding extra riff was really cool, that would have sounded awesome playing more often I reckon.
Keep it up mate!

AphelionX responds:

ha ha lol thanx im gettin there

outstanding

Lets take a look...I always look forward to your tracks.
Extremely nice chord progression at the start, I'm loving the low horns. I really envy your ability to harmonise everything so perfectly.
Nice transition into the choir part, I love that epic feel. Sounds a little bit like we're in the war room of a Venetian doge with that rapid plucked kind of sound. Very cinematic!

The next part, I'm not so sure about, its seems a little bit 'stop and start'. Perhaps what you intended.
The next section is on the money with that wonderful solo violin, definitely the highlight of the track for me! The momentum and the co-ordination of the elements really stands out as professional. I love the drive of the horns leading into the next section with that relentless pulse of strings and the timpani, thats the stuff! Would have loved a bit of choir action at the conclusion though.
Great job as always. Keep producing like this.

MaestroRage responds:

The transition into the string stabs was as you mentioned a little abrupt, but this was part of the image I formed in my head for the song.

After all when you are faced with an opponent, you are never truly aware when they'll charge you right ;)?

A choir you say eh? Now there's an idea. I really should have considered it, but on the other side of that coin a choir tends to overpower, unless mastered and equalized very carefully, and i'm not going to lie and say I have those skills yet. One day!

Thank you for the review and continued support padman, always a pleasure to see from you. I'm glad you enjoyed the piece ^^.

love it

lets take a look.
Hmm..classy stutters and excellent drum programming.. I love those computer glitches and that sweep into silence. Classy!

Wow, very impressive. Gets even better.

Gets pretty hectic, woah, excellent rapid sweeping sequence. Sounds like an epic battle between an army of laptops or something! Excellent breaks and you tame the chaos extremely well.
A lull....
back to the action!
This must have taken an extremely long time to make, my hat really does go off to you, this is pretty amazing. Tasty conclusion.

What software are you using if you dont mind me asking? Absynth 3 in there by any chance?

P.S Man, you didn't vote for my track!

P.S.2 This place is deserted lately hey?

patternapparatus responds:

thanks, man! good to hear coming from an artist like yourself.
i use FLStudio4 and cooledit D:
also, my apologies- i'll go vote your track way up there.
[easy]

now THIS is your best

You continue to impress me senor Ped. The breaks are seriously classy. Interesting intro, you really built up the opening well around the initial idea. Love the deep square + squelchy bass combo. Wicked. Oooh, Theremin...there for a min.
Ahh, the highlight of the track would have to be the section with your keys. Damn, thats tasty. Extremely captivating chord progression, and the beats are nice and fluid. The voices weaving in and out really add a unique Ped touch. Love the jazz/bluesy stylings when you start the affected Daft Punk style vox. Is that lo-fi + something else? I've always wondered how that was achieved.
Nice you gave us a 50/50 of affected and natural. Yep, I'd be pretty happy with myself if I made this track, really stands out as professional. The attention to detail and the way you've built it up so it stands as a real musical creation is something to look up to I reckon. Really well thought out arrangement.
This belongs in a commercial release I think, you might consider sending some of your recent tracks to them. And when you get paid send me a present ok? :)

P.S Do you use the EMU TurboPhat for your percussion in this one?

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

damn, i keep raising the goddamn bar, stop hailing stuff as my best, is a lot of pressure for my next haha. k, is a lot to respond to here (just wrote this whole response then closed the cocking window)
the keys; if u hadn't noticed my last few tracks have had rhodes in them. wintang sent me over an ickle vst and it's ruined me for anything else now, it's so damn nice u could put in any old shite and it would sound delectable.
the DaftPunk vox are just pitched up an octave then stuck through a ringmod, simple, then offset the clean vox. sounds quite nutty ambiguous.
'really stands out as professional', this really surprises and tickles my bag... i have a comlex about my production value, nothing ever seems to sit completely right and is the main thing that bugs me about my tunes. it gets so hard to have an objective ear when working ur own tunes, u get saturated and dunno if it sounds good or crap, well i do anyhoo.
'Really well thought out arrangement' haha, im such a fraud. this is another track that i started and progressed with
completely haphazzardly. if i tried to plan a track b4 i started i think it would end up sounding contrived and rigid. this way all parts are functional at the time, the tune takes on a mind of its own and produces invetiveness that i could never invent if that makes any sense at all.
anyways, thanks for listeneing again
;ped

oh, drums=kontakt
tubular bells, woodblock, chimes and gong = edirol orchestral

tasty mix

Lets see, nice percussion! sounds really exotic. Nice pads, I like the fluttering reversed type of sounds that come in with the female vocals. Nice atmosphere dude. The plucked sound sounds a bit familiar, but its cool.
Very nice wah wah synth gives a real Leftfield flavour when you bring in the upbeat house loop.
Yep, digging it man. Keep it up!
Good solid continuous bass down there. Hmm..whats next? You've dropped the bass...something! Ok...the bass, the anticipation! Ok..thats the end. No worries, I was hoping for a final explosion but maybe next time!
